Applications - Lead and Copper Reproduction
A Cost Effective and Attractive Alternative
The high cost of metals in general has resulted in a marked increase in the thefts of lead and copper. Flashings from old and new buildings are being stolen and the lead roofs of churches, schools and other public and historic buildings are often stripped for their resale value.
Polyroof systems are the solution. Our range of BBA approved, cold liquid applied roofing systems can replicate the look of lead or copper at a fraction of the weight and the price, and having no scrap value are not prone to vandalism. Attractive, tough and maintenance-free, Polyroof systems can be used on flat or pitched roofs and all forms of internal guttering.
The Polyroof 185 and Protec systems are used to replicate the look of lead roofs and gutters and the Elastex system is used to rejuvenate aged lead.
Polyroof 185 – New Build or Lead Replacement
Polyroof 185 lead roll finish is widely used on new build or renovation projects to reproduce the look of traditional lead but at lower cost and without the risk of theft. Typical applications include flat roofs, inclined roofs, dormers, porches, canopies and cladding, and is equally suitable to replace old, deteriorated lead or to replicate lead as part of a new build development. As an alternative finish to Polyroof 185 our Protec system may also be used.
Protec – New Build or Lead Replacement
Protec also comes with a 20 year guarantee and BBA Certification, however its physical properties and specification are different to Polyroof 185. Protec cures to leave a flatter mat finish thus making it the system of choice for some specifiers.
Elastex – Rejuvenating Aged Lead
For lead roof refurbishment we offer Elastex, a highly flexible glass fibre reinforced polyurethane overlay system for over-coating existing lead or copper roofs. This is an ideal solution for rejuvenating and waterproofing an ageing lead roof. It also seals in laps and seams making removal of the lead much more difficult. Elastex forms an excellent bond with metal substrates and can be applied with the minimum of surface preparation – just cleaning and priming. Elastex is approved by the BBA and flexible guarantees of up to 25 years are available dependent on substrate condition.
