PolyFinish surface options, including quartz sand anti-slip, or ProGrip integrated grip finish, provide reliable, durable slip resistance that meets building regulation requirements (BS 7976-2) for foot-trafficked surfaces. Anti-slip performance is built into the system from day one, not retrofitted.
The PolyFinish coating is an impact-resistant, hard-wearing surface designed to withstand regular and heavy foot traffic. Whether applied to a residential balcony or a large commercial terrace or walkway, the system maintains its performance and appearance over the long term.
The PolyFinish surface coat is applied over a seamless Protec cold liquid-applied waterproof membrane, forming a fully adhered, joint-free build-up with no seams, welds, or weak points. The combination provides outstanding long-term waterproofing performance beneath the durable surface finish.
Where a paved or hard landscaped surface finish is preferred over a liquid-applied coating, the Balcony & Terrace System is available in a warm roof configuration, integrating Polyroof insulation with the fully specified Polyroof Paving System over the waterproofing membrane.
Where balconies or terraces form part of an occupied residential or commercial building, Protec Evolve, the ultra-low odour, carbon-neutral waterproofing variant, can be specified in place of standard Protec. Same performance, same finish options, with significantly reduced odour during installation.
The Balcony & Terrace System is available in three options to suit different project requirements, aesthetic preferences, and surface finish specifications. The standard Balcony & Terrace System option, combining a seamless cold liquid-applied Protec waterproofing membrane with a quartz sand anti-slip broadcast finish and PolyFinish decorative top coat. The quartz sand is broadcast into an additional layer of Protec membrane to create a textured, slip-resistant surface, over which PolyFinish is applied to deliver the desired colour, aesthetics, and surface protection. Also available with Protec Evolve (ultra-low odour, carbon neutral) for occupied buildings and sensitive environments, same system performance with significantly reduced odour during installation.

A third low coverage coat of Protec (or Protec Evolve) resin applied, into which clean dried quartz sand is broadcast whilst wet to create the anti-slip texture. Once cured, loose sand is removed.
Second coat of Protec (or Protec Evolve) resin applied, to complete the waterproofing membrane build-up.
First layer of the Protec (or Protec Evolve) cold liquid-applied waterproofing membrane, applied in conjunction with PolyMat 450 glass fibre reinforcement. (Protec Evolve available for low odour applications.)
Appropriate Polyroof primer / carrier layer applied to the substrate dependent on deck/substrate type. Polyroof Technical Services will advise on the correct primer for the specific application.
Structural deck (concrete, timber) for new build applications, or existing waterproofing surface (felt, asphalt) for refurbishment overlay. Substrate to be prepared, made good, and primed as appropriate prior to application of the waterproofing system.
Combining Protec waterproofing with ProGrip, Polyroof's integrated anti-slip surfacing product, topped with an optional layer of PolyFinish for a high aesthetic finish. ProGrip delivers a higher-performance slip resistance profile making it well-suited to roof maintenance walkways, communal walkways, and areas with elevated slip risk requirements. PolyFinish provides an optional final decorative colour coat.
