Polyroof Winners at the LRWA Awards 2023

Polyroof has won two prestigious awards at the 5th annual LRWA Awards held at the luxurious Titanic Hotel in Liverpool. The event saw more than 300 professionals from the liquid roofing and waterproofing industry come together to celebrate the achievements of companies and individuals involved in the sector.

Polyroof had three projects nominated for the awards, all of them were recognised for their outstanding workmanship and aesthetic appeal. The Main Stand at Cheltenham Racecourse, completed in partnership with Makers Construction Ltd, was highly commended in the Liquid Roofing Project of the Year over 1,000m² category. The Host Helix Student Accommodation project, completed in collaboration with Tower Asphalt Ltd , won the coveted Liquid Roofing Project of the Year over 1,000 m² category.

The Host Helix Student Accommodation project was particularly challenging due to the building’s winding curves, guttering, and extensive plant on the roof. The Polyroof solution was to use a flexible, polyester liquid-applied membrane that was carefully matched to the university’s colors. The perimeter detail was encapsulated with the new waterproofing system, which required fire-retardant cement particle boards to be fixed to the internal and top faces of the external parapet walls. The contractor had to cut the trims to size before fixing them to ensure they followed the structure’s profile. The project also involved the creation of new internal curved gutter channels at the interface between the building and roof.

Sarah Spink, CEO of the LRWA, said: “This year we celebrate our fifth LRWA Awards event and the standard of projects continue to exceed all expectations. The judges’ feedback confirmed what a tough task they had on their hands, which is why we introduced a highly commended winner for each of the project categories.

“The entries showed an inspiring level of workmanship and how contractors have overcome some monumental challenges on site. They also demonstrated the strength of our sector and how the versatility and durability of liquids is helping to create amazing projects across the country.  The standard of projects and the liquid market today is beyond recognition from when we first launched the awards in 2017, as our sector continues to grow in strength.

“With such strong competition this year, all those nominated should be very proud of their achievement. We’d like to congratulate all those who received an award or who were highly commended, and thank our sponsors for supporting another hugely successful event.”

The LRWA Awards judges, who evaluated the entries blind, commended Polyroof’s projects for their standard of workmanship, complexity, and how challenges were overcome. The Awards recognised eight impressive projects across four categories: Liquid Roofing Project of the Year under 1,000m², Liquid Roofing Project of the Year over 1,000m², Liquid Roofing Project of the Year in a Buried Application, and Liquid Waterproofing Project of the Year.

Our extensive experience in the sector and dedication to excellence continue to make us leading choice for contractors and specifiers. Polyroof’s success at the LRWA Awards demonstrates our commitment to delivering high-quality and innovative solutions for liquid waterproofing projects.
