Creating the Knowledge
One of the biggest challenges when navigating sustainability in the UK construction market is access to transparent, reliable data on the environmental performance of products. We are directly addressing this issue through the establishment of our in-house Life Cycle Assessment and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) Team – the first output from which is our newly updated EPD for Protec Evolve.
Another sustainability challenge, often faced by contractors, is the provision of reliable, accessible data for tenders and environmental questionnaires. With our extensive experience, we are well placed to help by providing robust data and advice that enables contractors to navigate complex tenders and win work.

Net-Zero Strategy of The Year (SME)
In November 2024, we were honoured to receive the prestigious edie Net-Zero Strategy of The Year (SME) award, recognising our leadership in sustainability and commitment to helping our clients become more sustainable. We have built our sustainability strategy around best-practice global sustainability goals and targets, ensuring it genuinely drives change. For example, we have voluntarily set a science-based target to reduce scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 42% by 2030 – a target on which we have already made great strides, delivering a 39% reduction in scope 1 and 2 carbon intensity between 2021 and 2024*.
These efforts will ultimately lower the carbon footprint of our products, supporting clients in achieving their own Net Zero goals.

Key Industry Appointments
The sustainability landscape is constantly evolving, and we recognise how challenging it can be for sustainability-conscious specifiers and contractors to keep up to date. That’s why I am proud to have recently been appointed to the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) Construct Zero Sustainability Advisory Panels. These appointments reflect my passion for sustainable flat roofing practices and allow me to play a role in shaping strategies that align with the UK’s Net Zero goals while fostering innovation across the industry.

Specifiers can now benefit from the very latest guidance on sustainable practices through our brand new RIBA-certified Sustainable Specification of Cold Liquid Applied Roofing Systems CPD. Developed by myself and the Polyroof CPD committee, this CPD provides specifiers with up-to-date knowledge and expert advice around sustainable flat roofing. It enables them to understand the data and certification required for clients, whilst also optimising the sustainability benefits of cold liquid-applied waterproofing membranes – ensuring they stay ahead of emerging trends and regulatory shifts.
