Why Specify This System?

No Strip-and-Replace Required

Both PolyroofPRX Restore and PolyroofPRX Enhance overlay the existing profiled metal sheet roof, eliminating the need for costly and disruptive sheet removal. Building operations can continue with minimum disruption throughout the installation.

Extends the Lifespan of Existing Metal Roof Sheets

PolyroofPRX Restore is specifically designed to extend the life of deteriorating plastisol-coated profiled metal sheets. Applied before the existing coating reaches the end of its service life, it provides long-term exterior protection with guarantees of 10–20 years available, subject to site inspection and specification.

Waterproofing & Thermal Upgrade Without Structural Disruption

PolyroofPRX Enhance installs a warm roof insulation and waterproofing system directly over the existing sound profiled metal sheets, upgrading thermal performance to meet current building regulation requirements, without the need to remove or replace the existing roof structure.

Rapid Application, Spray or Roller Applied

PolyroofPRX Restore is spray or roller applied, enabling rapid installation times across large industrial or commercial roof areas. RapidCure liquid waterproofing technology is utilised in the PolyroofPRX Enhance system, ensuring fast return to service with minimal disruption.

Bespoke Specification & Guaranteed

Every PolyroofPRX project begins with a Polyroof Technical Services site investigation, from which a bespoke project specification is produced. No guarantee is issued without this process, ensuring every system is correctly specified for the specific roof condition, profile, and project requirements.

Cold Applied, No Hot Works

The liquid coating components of both PolyroofPRX systems are cold applied, with no naked flame or hot works required, reducing on-site fire risk and making them suitable for occupied industrial and commercial environments.

System Options

The Profiled Metal Sheet & Gutter Systems are available in three configurations, PolyroofPRX Restore (protective coating) and PolyroofPRX Enhance (warm roof overlay with insulation and waterproofing). Each system is bespoke-specified following a Polyroof Technical Services site investigation. For project advice, please get in touch with our team.

PolyroofPRX Enhance

PolyroofPRX Enhance is a fully engineered waterproofing & thermal upgrade system for existing profiled metal sheet roofs, combining Polyroof EPS Infill Insulation, Polyroof TissueTherm PIR insulation finished with a BBA-certified cold liquid-applied Polyroof waterproofing membrane.

Waterproofing Guarantees of 20–25 years are available subject to a full site inspection and bespoke specification by Polyroof Technical Services.

The system upgrades the thermal performance of existing metal roof buildings to meet current building regulation requirements, without the need to remove the existing roof structure. The system is subject to structural engineer's report, thermal calculation, condensation risk analysis, and wind uplift calculation. A Polyroof site investigation is required to confirm the metal profile prior to specification. All works must be carried out by a Polyroof Approved Contractor.

The following benefits are available when Protec or Protec Evolve are utilised as the Waterproofing layer:

Waterproofing Guarantees Available
System Can achieve Part L Regs.
BBA Certified Waterproofing
ETA & UKTA Assessed Waterproofing
FM Approved Waterproofing Available
CE & UKCA Marked Waterproofing
Waterproofing Product EPD
BBA Durability - 30 Years
Low Temperature Performance
Powered by MPeC
Rapid Curing

Fully waterproof & thermally upgrade existing metal sheets, no structural removal required.

Polyroof EPS Infill Insulation cut to suit the roof profile, filling the existing sheet corrugations to create a level substrate.

Polyroof TissueTherm PIR insulation mechanically fixed over infill boards, thermally efficient to achieve Part L where required.

BBA-certified liquid waterproofing, Protec, Protec Evolve, or Protec FW-25 options available.

Cold applied throughout, no hot works at any stage.

Typical layers

5. Polyroof Liquid Applied Waterproofing System

Cold liquid-applied Polyroof waterproofing membrane — Protec, Protec Evolve, or Protec FW-25 — applied in two coats over the SA Carrier Layer with PolyMat 450 glass fibre reinforcement in the first coat. BBA certified. Colour: Light Grey or Dark Grey as standard; other colours available on request.

The Polyroof TissueTherm Insulation is primed with Polyroof SA Primer. A self-adhesive Polyroof Carrier Layer is then applied over the insulation, providing the substrate for the cold liquid-applied Polyroof waterproofing membrane.

Polyroof TissueTherm PIR insulation boards, mechanically fixed through the EPS Infill Insulation Boards into the support structure of the existing roof in strict accordance with the project-specific Polyroof Mechanical Fixing Schedule. Boards are laid in a staggered (brick pattern) arrangement. Thickness to be confirmed by thermal calculation.

Polyroof EPS Infill Insulation Boards, cut to suit the specific profile of the existing metal sheets, filling the corrugations to create a level, even substrate for the insulation layer above.

The existing profiled metal sheet roof, confirmed as structurally sound following site investigation. All defective sheets, fixings, and washers replaced prior to installation of the overlay system. The existing metal sheet typically acts as the air and vapour control layer — subject to confirmation by condensation risk analysis.

PolyroofPRX Restore

PolyroofPRX Restore is a high-performance spray or roller-applied protective coating system based on a two-pack polyurethane-acrylic hybrid formulation, ideal for extending the lifespan of pitched plastisol-coated profiled metal roof sheets. As factory-applied coatings deteriorate over time due to weathering, PolyroofPRX Restore provides a highly economical and rapid alternative to traditional strip-and-replace works, restoring long-term exterior protection and refreshing the appearance of the roof without the cost or disruption of a full replacement. Protective Coating Guarantees of 10–20 years are available subject to a full site inspection and bespoke specification by Polyroof Technical Services.

Direct Adhesion to Plastisol Sheets
20 Year Protective Coating Guarantee Available
Spray or Roller Applied

High-performance exterior protection for plastisol-coated profiled metal sheets.

Spray or roller applied, rapid installation times across large roof areas.

10–20 year guarantees available, subject to full site survey and bespoke Polyroof specification.

No strip-and-replace required, highly cost-effective alternative to sheet replacement.

Minimal disruption, building operations can continue throughout installation.

Available in Goosewing Grey as standard; alternative colours available on request.

Typical layers

5. PolyroofPRX Restore Coating - Coat 2

Second coat (and third coat where specified) of PolyroofPRX Enhance, completing the system to the project-specified dry film thickness. 10-year system: 100 microns DFT total. 20-year system: 150 microns DFT total.

First coat of PolyroofPRX Enhance two-pack polyurethane-acrylic hybrid coating, applied by spray or roller to the required dry film thickness (DFT). Allow to fully cure before applying second coat.

Where instructed by Polyroof Technical Services following site investigation, local reinforcement treatments may be specified to fixings, ridge capping joints, sheet end laps, and other vulnerable details using Polyroof Butyl Lap Tape, Polymat 225, and Elastex SoLo Resin. Local reinforcements are only applied when specifically instructed as part of the bespoke project specification.

All surfaces prepared to a clean, sound, and dry condition. Bare metal areas prepared to Swedish Standard ST3 and spot primed with Polyroof Quick Dry 2-Pack Epoxy Primer. No overall primer required to plastisol surfaces, subject to adhesion tests.

The existing plastisol-coated profiled metal roof sheet substrate. Sheets must be structurally sound and suitable for overcoating, confirmed by a full Polyroof Technical Services site investigation and contractor survey. Badly corroded or defective sheets should be replaced prior to coating.
