As described by the Woodland Trust, Glen Finglas is a great expanse of ancient woodland, lochs and open heathland, sitting at the heart of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park and home to one of the best examples of upland wood pasture in Scotland.
The newly constructed Gateway Building was designed to blend in with the surrounding woodlands and featured a circular timber-clad exterior with a spiralling, curved roof. The Woodland Trust approached RTA Building Limited, a Polyroof approved contractor, to provide a guaranteed waterproofing solution that would complement the aesthetics of the building.
After initial discussions the Polyroof 185 Warm Roof System was chosen for the task. With its BBA 30 year durability rating, high life-cycle costing performance and 20 year insurance-backed guarantee, the Woodland Trust had the peace of mind that a sustainable and long-term roofing solution had been chosen.
The Polyroof membrane itself covered flat roof areas, seamlessly following the curved perimeters and spiral design. A bespoke GRP capping was installed to the perimeter parapets and encapsulated with the system, providing a robust and fully waterproof edge detail that followed the contours of the building.
